$160M pay out - finance help?

Intel recently filed their SEC filing for the retirement plan. As part of that, it details how much Intel paid in employer contributions to the plan. 2014 Intel paid $90M in employer contributions. 2015, Intel paid $250M in employer contributions. Why the big jump? What was the extra $160M for? Intel didn't increase its employee contribution percentage. So why was the payout nearly triple the previous year's? Anyone in finance know?

@IX19YK4-tea Thanks... poured more than two decades into Intel, then new bosses found new favorites and got my first level4. Couldn't give me an IR but level4 can be a simple distribution play or a f-- you get out of my sandbox because I like someone better...lucky me !

My advice to young and old, Intel don't care about you nor does your boss of you don't scratch his back. Watch yourself as the road ahead is full of obstacles and Intel's path is very very murky!

@IX19YK4-apm. Congratulations! you must have been a long time employee to have so much SERMA and that high a pension. They stopped pension contributions to those under grade 7 some time ago, and the amount steadily decreases the longer you've been there and get RC (Pension is tied to a formula wrt RC; you don't just get it automatically). Even better that you have a new job already.

ESP is the reason why. There will be a rise that will peak and then it will steadily go down

Years salary, two years healthcare, 36K in my SERMA, 200K in pension, and 4 offers and start soon.
