Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Is Intel, finally, getting rid of McAfee? or the rumor was just a bluff for moving the stock price?

The 17 ton elephant in the room now is Altera. Any thoughts on how it will be monetized. And how long it will take to recover 17B?

Intel desperately needs cash to cover up all accounts fudging they are doing these days. Buyers know this and will drive a hard bargain.

mcafee is a useless piece of crap. Intel must give it away ASAP - nobody would buy it anyways

is not logical for Intel to "kill mcafee". Is like throwing 7.7b to the garbage. And let's be honest, mcafee IP is not worth 7.7b... is not worth even 100K

Sorry @IRYLbIb-ncu, I don't agree with you. That move just does not make any sense

Intel will sell mcafee with whatever sh-- there's inside, and that's it. BK will try to recover as much money as possible of those 7.7billion

Dudes. But of course Intel is getting rid of McAfee, and of course is going to be silence until the last day. Whoever is scammed by this sale, is buying people, products, accounts, patents, etc. If the rumor is confirmed, key talent will leave and too many employees will get skittish and begin to run somewhere, possibly impacting the acquisition itself.

McAfee is certainly gone my friends

The sale of McAfee is a FACT. Can't you see the signals?

  1. Cost Controls = ACT

  2. Sales being pushed, specially in ISECG

  3. Rumors, being discredited because they are rumors

and of course

  1. Hot talent moving to other Intel divisions

@pdn - I had the exact same reaction - I am an HW engineer in DCG. I asked at that time WHY didn't we purchase Nvidia instead of an SW company? I said we should have just licensed the SW if we needed it to. The answer I got was this was tied to Vpro and they wanted to integrate this in the CPU somehow?? You are correct (admin) this was another obvious blunder brought to us by the overpaid non-common sense MCM.

I asked the same question when I heard we acquired McAfee, @yqs!!!! I'm not a geek nor an engineer type (Admin) but I sure had a WTF moment over this one. Whenever I goggled for the best security McAfee wasn't on the list, or if they were, they weren't near the top. That decision to buy boggled my mind. Even I, an admin, could have made a MUCH better decision. lol

Hey, let me run the company. At least I have common sense. LOL

the entire McAfee division was not impacted by ACT. We all know they are doing squat and clearly security is NOT the way for Intel.

so why mcafee was not impacted? May be BK wants to keep the heads to make some more money at the garage sale

Why did Intel bought McAfee in the first place?. It was a lousy company with bad reputation. Even start-ups managed by college kids are far more efficient (and take more clear and strategic decisions)

Intel should sell the sh-- and reinvest the dough in actual key businesses.

why sell now? it should be paid off in just 32 more years, unless it got BKed somehow

It's still on ebay with a reserve price of $1.00.
