Thread regarding Southwestern Energy Co. layoffs

Marketing Analyst Position

I saw that SWN is hiring a marketing analyst. I am currently a marketing analyst for another smaller energy company and I am looking for a more long term position but be able to grow at the company. I am basically out of work since things have slowed tremendously and I am afraid my company will start letting more people go. How is SWN doing? Is there an opening because the work has slowed and the person that was originally the marketing analyst left to find a better opportunity? How is the management and HR?

SWN looks like a college campus. The company needs experienced 60 + aged people, as well as the youth. It seems obvious they laid off most the 60 year-olds and those that look 60. A slam dunk with no homework, so as to not to interrupt the golf time. Consequently, cheaper salaries confounded with errors of learning.

The idea that someone keeps their job because they are an OU graduate and easy on the eyes is laughable.

As long as this poster continues to post this bunk, most of us will understand the bitterness that this person harbors for losing their job while an OU graduate kept theirs. If it helps, then by all means keep believing and mis-stating the facts. But it just makes you look extremely foolish.

Well. . . . If you're a 10 and from OU, no problem!

I think some posters may be clueless, but SWN has firmed up its balance sheet and obtained $500MM budget to continue drilling operations for 4Q 2016 and 2017. As a result, they are posting a few positions, but most affected will be field positions for drilling and completion operations.

As to their stability, well, its probably about like any other employer in the oil and gas domain. Even companies that are doing well today, have gone through re-organizations, consolidations, divestiture, etc. to keep the lights on and increasing value or shareholders.

It won't hurt a bit to apply and hope it leads to a job offer. I'm sure there will be competition for the position. At worst, you can be declined, or you could decide the fit isn't good for you.

Good luck.

Could be that the person left for any number of reasons, or they may need more help. Things are definitely picking up and there are half a dozen new hires every week.
