So it is just as well that 5G components will sit happily inside a sub 6 GHz LTE and LTE A network, just as easily as in a pure 5G network. No root and branch upgrade will be needed this time. 5G will not involve another big bang upgrade (economically and logistically unthinkable for most operators for another decade). Instead, it will be phased in gradually, alongside LTE, and on the MNOs’ own timetable.
