Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Is an Intel URM "red carpet" event even legal?

I thought it was illegal to discriminate by race, sexual orientation or gender in a companies hiring process. But if you are a straight white male you can't go to these hiring events?

Straight white male is not a protected class. It would have to be a designated protected class to take some sort or legal action. However, you should feel free to join in these urm events as a white male and see if they dare run you out.

I don't think anything at Intel excludes a specific race or gender etc...

But be a white male and show up at a Black team builder, they wont' throw you about, but you will be as welcome as the KKK in the deep south.

On the other hand if anyone tried to create a white male support group you'd be SOL, but the reality if anyone needs a network for support it is that group.

Every other group is free to create their personal support group, call that payback, LOL

For the last many years, Intel is playing on the edges of legality under covers in the name of URM hiring. So long as they can do this by word of mouth, and keep it all seemingly legal, the law will not be able to touch. Come to think of it, for a company that needs obedient automatons, it makes perfect sense to solicit demographics that are young, fresh and too happy to get a job in a fortune 500 company. This is the other H1B pool that the company can milk.while also appearing good in the view of government.

About half the population wants laws to be ignored and political correctness to be law. To those people, this favoritism in hiring is deserved and legal. In reality, no it's not legal. Once PC dies down there will be loads of discrimination lawsuits based on race, gender and age.

This what happens when you get in bed with a race hustler like Jessie Jackson. Another check mark next to Intel for it's demise.

BK said it at the open forums.. lots of demand chasing a small group of valuable people and thus classical economic theory and valuable bidding and special treatment.

In most cases these valuable people have special skills but BK's eyes the color of the skin and the existence of a vag--a are what make you high demand to Intel.

These red carpet events were happening long before the URM thing. Back about 8 years ago, there was controversy that RCGs were given red carpet welcomes in Folsom, but not other new hires. I doubt there is anything illegal about it.
