Thread regarding Education Management Corporation layoffs

August 19th meeting

There is a meeting on August 19th in Miami for all east coast schools. It is supposedly to have all EC from each campus meet the new president of the company but, let's be real, that is not what it is for. My guess they will announce the closing of more schools. Get your resumes ready

Most presidents would want to visit each campus, strange they would rather pull all management from their schools!! Most campuses that have already closed, employees received a mass email. Monday ought to be interesting!

If they really want to improve the Florida schools they would fire Erica Flemming. This woman can't make a good hire or decision to save her life. She brought in a complete ditz and made her the president of AiFL along with some other stupid hires. Brilliant move if you are into complete ineptness.

Mark (the new CEO) is also meeting with west coast AI schools. I heard he's doing a country wide tour. Closures wouldnn't be announced in phases throughout a week. They'd have the presidents tell the schools at the same time/day.

With their stock hitting $0.0081, I think they're going to be shuttering doors like they did at Bowel Movement College.

The market capitalization of EDMC is now a bit over one million dollars. I don't understand how any company with dozens of college campuses could be operating when their total value is less than any house in my street. The end must be close.

New president, EDMC or campus? Miami campus meeting?

At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if they approached AI as they did BMC. Close them all in one fell swoop. They'd be teach-outs of course. If that's the case, I wouldn't count on Career Services being able to help with much more than re-writing resumes.
