Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Management Layoffs

Of the total people laid off from Chevron, what fraction have been managers? Then going to the top, what does John Watson need to do to get fired? Is he not responsible for the screw-ups in operations at Gorgon and Angola LNG, along with project problems with Big Foot? If he's somehow not responsible for those debacles, what can he credibly take credit for in terms of adding value to CVX? Has he made any good decisions?

Very, very few managers have been laid off ( redundant).

Wow, what a bunch of potty-mouths. Are you guys adults or middle school children? You remind me of little kids who learn a curse word then think it's cool to go around and keep repeating it out of context....LOL.

You can see Johnny boy on YouTube. Type in John Watson Pebble Beach. There are people here who don't believe that really happened.

-hpe is right, they don't seem to care very much about engineering. Too many working engineers have been ESP'd and not enough managers.

OP, the only thing John Boy Watson can credibly take credit for this year, was that Eagle he made at the Pebble Beach golf tournament the very time 650 employees were being laid off in Houston. He has his score card to prove he made that Eagle too.

Sad state of affairs we have here. No leadership starting from the top.

He can take credit for a good golf game honed by many many hours of practice. Not all of it is during working hours, however. He also practices on the weekend.

Chevron's management cares about micro-pauses and reminding people about the dangers of hot coffee, but they don't seem to care very much about engineering.

His best decision was to spend millions of dollars to BCG to layoff thousands of full time and thousands of contractor people. Investors love layoffs.
