No offense intended, but wow, thanks for making that so simple to understand. Many of us are so confused about corporate motivation that we ourselves don't even know where we stand right? I'd say, in our system, citizens matter... period - I think the constitution backs me up on that too. Like it or not, America is a social society and it always has been for good reason - America was set up for us to give a sh.. about each other. People in our system don't always look for a hand out nor do they lie down to get screwed. We pressure elected officials and have laws created to protect society as well as business in our system. Don't believe me on the social welfare thing you say? Some of the people who whine the best were once greedy bigshots that lost it all due to stupidity and amoral behavior. When things don't go right for people who had it all at the expense of others, they appear to run to the front of the line to look for a sympathetic shoulder to cry on. It is no wonder the word revolution has been so well received so far in our national election.

The company exists for the sole purpose of maximizing shareholder value. That's just how it works in our system, folks.

I guess what traders and stockholders want is for all engineers to go back to school and learn something else or find a job out of the country. Wall Street: Imagine if all the engineers spent time learning business and finance instead 300 series calculus over the last 10 years. Bye bye wall street bigshots.

What's the point of this announcement of culling 1600 jobs by Sept? It obviously hurts employee morale and doesn't help the atmosphere in the office.

The only rationale for this approach is to keep Wall Street happy. But who gives a flying **** about traders only in it for the short term? This is an engineering company that should utilize its workforce to hit product release dates and putting out quality products.

Um yeah, six months??? I heard it could be as soon as two weeks. It's a sad place to work at and anyone that is left should seriously think about getting the hell out soon.
