The ink has only just dried on a purchase order for an initial batch of modems to Apple. Instrumental to the successful execution of 7360 (the latest Intel cellular baseband chip) was Sophia Antiplolis a small Intel site in the south of France. This group of engineers of very high caliber and many industry veterans worked tirelessly to not only design and develop one of Intel's world class products but devoted many evenings and weekends to ensure that Intel forged a reputation for excellence in quality and reliability in delivery. Tomorrow these hard working friends and colleagues who epitomize Intel values will be down Intel gratitude by giving notice the closure if their site!

Everything moving to San Diego. Shame on Aicha.
The youth will come here an mouth off they can do your jobs better. Which we all know is bull!
So sorry, folks!
Seems really shortsighted.
What's the plan going forward? Just assume that you're inter-changeable with other people in, say, Hillsboro?!
But people on here were claiming no losses in Europe because socialism was working. You mean they were wrong? I'm shocked!
In all seriousness, best wishes to anybody affected. ACT is breathtakingly short sighted, and this is another glowing example
I wouldn't mind if this made business sense. Apple please reevaluate your decision. I think with the closure of Dresden ans Sophia IMC has lost critical mass of engineering talent!
The other element beyond design excellence is silicon. Sadly for intel the silicon isn't intel but TSMC silicon as intel silicon is incapable of producing high quality modems. A challenge for Intel diversify fr producing CPUs with very restrictive silicon design rules and minimum features
Maybe the ink didn't dry, it may have gotten wiped out ;)
Allentown Aalborg and Sophia: treated with dignity and respect
Shame on you Aicha
