So those that stay at Intel and defend it or think it will do great, please share why! I think intel is DOA

I am a longtimer but have always felt intel was lucky that IBM picked the x86 it easily could have been a z80 or 6800 and then where would this company be. With the monopoly that enabled lots of good and some very bad habits that permeat and are rotting the company in so many ways!

Now that Moores law is done, and new generations don't provide much but cost so much what is next? Intel can't scale to the next node and win just because it is ahead. They will actually be even to late for the next node. So much for process leadership, that has been squandered!

Now that ARM powers a billions new devices a year to a few hundred million for x86 it's relevancy is plummeting in standards and design. One used to say if it computes it computes best with intel. These days if it computes more likely than not it is ARM.

IoT and 5g are the great new battle ground but one with no standard that intel controls so they have no advantage of architecture nor have they any track record in modems or such open competition.

My prognosis more bad time very bad times!!

At least the creosote bush has died. We shall rebuild the castle and moat and make intel great again

Execs believe in the magical powers of x86. They are blind to the ARM freight train barreling down to run them over.

This INTEL behavior is called with slogan: Ignorant and Arrogant behemoth. INTEL, instead licensing its own x86 technology, did in 1990s catastrophic mistake: decided to continue this journey alone, and to rule x86 market with driving it, controlling and demanding. It made huge company, monolith, instead diversification, and let others to make and take their own decisions.

ARM has one huge, deadly advantage: it is "cloud" oriented, with cloud of zillions companies around The World using ARM license. This advantage is now showing in all of its beauty.

Different approach, different results: many small and mid size animals cooperating and competing, against one behemoth.

Intel will do good because they have the best game show host CEO in the industry.

I took VSP and started job hunt. I started to get messages from Intel recruiters to interview for positions. As I am unemployed, I am tempted to try out any opportunity that is good. But I am wary of Intel. On the other hand, I doubt if the other semiconductor companies are so much better than Intel. I tend to think all corporates are the same. So why rule out Intel as my next employer? What I think is even the hot divisions in Intel (read server related departments) will be under pressure to meet stock market expectations and compensate for PC decline. The end result will be leadership taking mindless decisions putting unnecessary pressure on leaf level employees. So I am exclusively looking to other companies. Am I wrong in my analysis? If so, I can add Intel to my prospective employer list (Intel is a huge employer. So it adds a lot of open jobs in my hunt for new jobs).
