My manager has been invited to training this week. Can anyone shed more light on what this training is about. Are managers being let go.. or are they learning how to rid employees ?

The manager training is prep for the next round of cuts. Phase 1 and 2 are complete this month. Phase 3 is planned to begin in August, and phase 4 in November. If necessary Phase 5 is planned for Q1 '17. These will not be large in scale like ACT, but will be targeted areas in multiple groups. There was not an indication of what performance criteria or layoff numbers will be, but the layoffs will continue albeit on a smaller scale. The group of people I was attending these sessions with were dismayed after BK just said in his webcast last week that company wide ACT measures are complete, but it looks like "targeted" layoffs will continue.
maybe they are learning about the new focal process?

Nuthin' good for ya, dude.
@I0ziyqF-1okw: it sounded like a working session, not training.
I went throughh this when I was a manager at Intel. Offsite training is where all the managers that are going to stay go to makeup the layoff lists. When I went though it we spent 4 days (500 people were laid off) and after we made up the lists (2 days) we spent 2 days arguing with HR to make sure we met EEOAA requirements so the company would not get sued. There were 18 of us in the group and we bounced 500 people one week after the "training"
I've never received manager training, except online.
OP: why not just ask your manager if you are so curious?
Teaching Karate to handle aggressive employees.
They will teach managers how to kick people out to the curb.
Maybe some technical training?
