Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Any VSP turned to ISP today? Is VSP being forced now? Or just a rumour?

They don't offer VSP to everyone because people getting EE/O basically means they are getting compensated less than what they should be. They could easily leave and make more somewhere else and the package would just encourage it even more. They don't want to give even more incentive for the top performers to leave.

I disagree with prior post that most VSP will be fine. VSP were the only ones who received "stern letter" which was a warning shot that if not enough people take VSP, then it will turn to ISP & severance package will be a lot less. ERP didn't get that, unless they were offered both. It's obvious who they will target for ISP if they don't meet their numbers. Managers have been told to tell their employees to take VSP. Emails and open forums from upper management have said the same in one form or another.

@vjk,

In this new phase of layoffs, each organization may use different scheme: team closure, performance based (using the HR lists, convert vsp to "isp"), attrition and so on.

One example is the FM MVE thread just above this one, which is a team closure.

Good luck everybody!

Each buisness group has to hit 11% but they can use project cancelation, attrition , VSP, ERP, site closure, or ISP. Project cancelations are next, followed by VSP/ERP. After that they will tally up the numbers and decide on the next steps. Having a VSP does not make you a target for ISP, but it is not a shield either. Assess your situation but don't panic. Most VSP are going to be fine.

Heard that latest VSP count is way below need, expect after VSP a round of ISP will be required to "hit the number" LOL
