How True - In one group, the VP promoted all his managers to directors just this last year -- 3 direct reports, 4 direct reports, 6 direct reports, one with 2 direct reports. All safe, huh? No VSPs because they are all recent promotions, some offered relocation with their ERP -- a protected elite class at Intel.
Lots of managers at Intel are very poor at their jobs, don't do much work, love to travel with Intel money, protect employees in their group even when offenses are against the Intel code of conduct.
They protect their own by shuffling them around the organization during layoffs.
