Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Employee of Kmart, left feeling a complete lack of respect to company during ongoing DM visit.

Today I offered 3 apologies to different people on behalf of the visiting DM. 1st an Assistant Manager left bewildered by negativity. 2nd a customer who you could tell just brought a shopping cart from outside inside to shop. Who just happened to walk by as the DM was saying, " get that boy back inside, the least of my concerns is him chasing a cart around a parking lot all day." The customer literally," Hmphed" her as she passed. The 3rd a fellow employee who felt she should quit just to go home on time. Then she, the district manager, hit on a personal note with me. An employee was called to the phone, the manager went to answer and say that he had left early was told by the DM not to answer, "they'd know when no one answered that he was gone." I instantly remembered last year when my dad was sick all the times my family had called to tell me he was in the hospital on 2 separate occasions, sometimes 14 times in a row (they started counting) and no one told me. I couldn't hear the announcements over the air conditioner in the stock rooms and never found out until after work. He died last year. "They'd know when he didn't answer," is one of rudest, disrespectful

things I've ever heard only matched by its destruction to morale.

88Sears is a joke at it is outsourced to India where they just read from scripts. They are not really "listening" to your plight, just looking for the most appropriate response from that script.

The Compliance Training that we have to do is a joke where they show us how we will be protected from all this bad behavior from management and how Sears does not condone this bad behavior against employees. Give me a break.

Run for your life.

Sadly, behavior like this is par for the course. District management will walk in and start giving orders and will use threats and intimidation tactics if something is not to their liking.

For example, MPU's Pickup in Give metric was around 85-87 percent at our store, which is also a fusion store (fusion stores fulfill online orders with the stock they carry). Instead of being proactive and working with MPU associates, the MPU lead, the store manager and myself to bring that score up, the market leader just threatened writeups for the MPU associates. There are days where there's only two MPU associates in the store, there's a lot more to MPU than wheeling out purchases to someone's car.

Anyways, I'm sure associates have notified 88Sears for lodging complaints about abusive district management. The issue is, 88Sears only exists to investigate complaints that could expose the company to legal liability (e.g. sexual harassment, safety hazards) and are not concerned with other issues.

I'm sure the behavioral issues are worse at regional and headquarters. The company is in dire straits after all...desperate times call for desperate measures.

My mother passed away on the Thursday before Thanksgiving in 2013. We are required to work on Black Friday. I buried my mother on the Monday before Thanksgiving. I was told that I got five days off for bereavement. My boss told me I had to come back to work on Tuesday since my five days were up, they counted Saturday and Sunday. I told him I was taking a vacation the rest of the week and I would be back the following Monday. I did not care if they fired me or not. I came back on the following Monday. The company does not care about anyone of you. Get out while you can.
