Your Toaster will remind tour wheelchair to take its pills. They will do well without you.
Your toaster will analyze the caloric content of your toast and communicate that to your pillbox which will dispense just the right amount of drugs. They will then summon your wheelchair to take you to the toaster and pillbox so you can have your lunch all handled for you so you don't have to think.
Iot has tremendous use at large scale optimisation of resources like automatically schedule charging of electric vehicle and prevent loading of electric grid. Another application is sensing the pattern and provide useful information like car engine vibration vs when it needs servicing. Iot solution has to be complemented by cloud infrastructure. Intel doesn't have any cloud API which are adapted by developer community. Intel will not be able to win the endpoint devices as there are too many players and it will be cost driven market. Intel will not win the cloud services as Amazon,google and Microsoft dominates this portion. Only left over is gateway, which may or may not be needed if endpoint device directly connected to cloud. BK strategy is not backed up with data as how this growth engine shall generate revenues in long run. Intel has lost its leadership position and always played catching up games.. always late in reacting. Company built by legends like Robert noyce, now left to be doomed in hands of idiots who has no leadership skills.

The only way to grow a market is to make the product more convenient or efficient. People want simplicity. I find it frustrating that I have access to information faster through my cell phone than I do through my PC.

The end goal is to connect humans with chips to the system... I'm astonished that so many people do not know or understand this... The IOT interim steps are simply designed to train humans that they need to be connected....

To have lights, door locks, garage door openers, TV etc. connected to internet where your watch/ phone can control makes sense. Why my toaster, refrigerator, or other appliances needs it is a feature chasing a yet to be dreamed up usage. What is laughable beyond selling more servers is that intel can capture anything here. Take the Amazon echo and Google and for sure Apple entry none will let it be x86 and if not what is intel angle? It sure won't be cost or power as ARM already schooled them in phones. Intel has no compelling business that will grow the bottom line unless it sells for more than 100 bucks and hard to believe an Echo will accept any silicon more than a few bucks. How does BK convince the board he had a growth plan with memory and IoT is beyond any common sense.

This whole IoT thing is just a solution looking for a problem. Companies are trying to get there before everyone else but there is nothing there yet
