Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Old timers have been spoiled by Intel for too long and reality has caught up

There are too many old timers complaining on the laidoff, in case you have not notice this is the reality for the US.

No wonder Intel is bringing H1Bs don't complain and understand their position in the company instead of thinking they are owned something for working there a long time, hellooooo you get paid for the work you do, Intel does not own you anything. If you don't like it leave, as simple as that.

Ive only been at Intel for four years and I came in with 10 years of experience. I've encountered many Intel old-timers who can work RCGs under the table in every way possible. Many RCGs are truly clueless, and to make matters worse, they don't know their clueless. I loath finding out that I have to work with an RCG or Intern. Every now and again you work with one who can hold their own but for the most part they're worthless and just end up causing delays and encroaching on other's time because you have to hold their hands. It can be frustrating to have to deal with them.

I am an old timer who is still around. Will be here as long as I am needed. Say hi if you see me at the hallways. Young man, I am not your enemy... the competitors out there are the people we need to beat up. Some of our clueless leaders are the culprits. . H1Bs, urms, Indians, old timers, rcgs are not our enemies.. choose wisely

I remember when I was an RCG, not all that long ago (single digit years). I knew everything, I didn't need to listen to anybody, and the old people just held me back.

Wow was I stupid. Very glad I grew up and realized that experience matters and my diploma meant jack sh!t once I got my offer letter. Listening to "the old guys" and learning from them taught me more in a month than I learned in 4 years of college.

They have been rewarded with stock and bonus for building Intel over the many years.

Intel isn't running a charity. Deliver value or get out.

One key note is the old timers built the company from 1B revenue to 50B plus.. Quit harping on old workers. You are ungrateful bottom feeders.

OlD wHITe gUY: So it's ok to celebrate any company laying off older folks? Everything you've said people already know and/or have done. Do you guys like taunting & lecturing people? Do you guys enjoy kicking people while they're down? Good grief the trolls on this site...

I agree with what this poor-spelling-H1B is saying. Since this whole layoff thing started, I have received emails and calls from at least a dozen recruiters. Why? Because I have a great resume, Intel is just the latest place I have worked, and I have just been at Intel for just a few years. I never coasted at a job, and when I was going nowhere in a job, or layoffs were rumored, I jumped ship and ALWAYS found something better and learned new stuff. I took jobs even though I thought I was unqualified because I knew I would learn a lot even if I failed at the job. In the past I have reviewed resumes as a hiring manager at other companies and I would see resumes come in with someone who had been at Intel or a different company for 10, 20, or more years yet did not appear to have picked up any marketable skills other than a BSEE. If you are not going to be a manager, you had better jump jobs, stay on top of the game and learn new stuff all the time. BTW, of course I did not get a ERP or a VSP - too bad, because I would have been out in a heart beat.

Funny thing is, the people who celebrate older people being thrown out haven't yet felt the pain of the decision. Even the company hasn't yet. It's going to hurt everybody in some way or another. For example, a process that used to take us a couple of hours is now taking 3 weeks because we have to ship complex items to Penang rather than do them in-house, thanks to the only qualified person on the campus being ISP'd due to politics.

Dude. I was an H1B when i was hired. And yes now i am old timer, noone thinks Intel owes us anything. New H1bers will go through the same pain sooner or later. Your arrogance will come back at you one day.

OP asswipe, your time will come. We'll see who complains then. You are the one who thinks you are immune from layoffs, open your eyes and see the reality of what is going on, the people who build this company and made it successful are being let go - who's going to hold your hand when something breaks? No One, then see how long you last

Agreed with OP, some people think they are indispensable at Intel, too bad they were not laidoff, maybe next round.
