Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Disappointed at the vitriol I'm seeing on this website

While I agree that Intel has seriously messed up in the way they have implemented these latest rounds of layoffs (yes, these ARE layoffs-no matter what how the Intel HR/PR folks spin this), I am disappointed at the lack of maturity many show on this website. For months, my wife (not an Intel employee) has advised me not to even look at posts on this website. Too depressing and sad, she said.

After 22 years at the company, I was shown the door and walked out April 26th. I had a “successful” review and SSL4 “reward.” I can't ever return. There was no warning, no indication that I was not doing well at Intel. That isn't right. This is not meritocracy. My management didn't fight for me, nor did they care. Thousands are in my situation. I understand this. I felt insulted and angry.

However: I still consider myself very, very lucky to have been employed at a place like Intel.

What I've always enjoyed about Intel is that I've always believed that (for the most part) Intel was full of bright, intelligent people that were not prejudiced, nasty or unfair to others. Having said this, the comments I’ve seen posted on this website about other racial groups at Intel, the profanity etc. makes me not only sad, but angry. Rest assured, BK & particularly Murthy will eventually be measured against their actions and will be held accountable. Time will tell whether this move was ill advised, or what was needed to save the company. But folks: please try to take the higher ground and avoid the racial slurs, profanity, sexual comments etc. Andy Grove must be rolling in his grave. This is a very, very sad time.

As a close friend of mine once said (past Intel employee): “Yes, XXXXXXXXX, there is life after Intel.” I believe that, and off I go! Best of luck to everyone. I do mean that.

Dude, don't feed the trolls.

Sorry to hear about the way you have been treated. You obviously don't deserve that. Unfortunately I think it will get worse before it gets better. There will probably be many stories of people who hesitated and live to regret it. Focal (or whatever they're going to call it) is going to be downright nasty. Take care.

Indeed, it's just a noise. I really feel for these angry people. I wish I could help. Here is one useful link with info on jobs at IBM: https://www.semiwiki.com/forum/f283/jobs-@-ibm-openings-microprocessor-designers-austin-7818.html

OP, thanks for expressing the opinion of many at Intel (well, I definitely share it). As a long time industry veteran I have to say that the caliber of people in this industry has degraded severely over the years - from both a technical skill and human quality perspective (perhaps there is some correlation there). I do believe that it's just a small group of small-minded, angry people who are posting all this drivel. Unfortunately poor souls do not understand that they do not do themselves any favors. With this life attitude they are doomed to spend their lives hating people and themselves. Is it really that difficult to understand that Intel is a company not a person? Intel is not reading your stupid posts here, it can't. By littering this forum with your petty posts you just make it that much more difficult for your colleagues to share and find useful information here.

Then you and your wife should stop trolling on this site.

I agree that most (if not all) the vitriol are coming from trolls who have nothing better to do with their time. I've never met anyone at Intel who would behave like this even in their worst moments.

Intel announced that it will layoff 12,000 American workers after requesting 14,523 H-1B visas and green cards to import foreign workers......thanks to companies like Intel, Donald Trump will be our next President

Things happens for a reason. After 20+ years at Intel, I was fired because I did not receive an exceed, even though I grew our business 17% and 25% over the last 2 years and worked with honor and loyalty only to get a dishonorable discharge. I only wish well for my friends and their families at Intel. But for BK and our management that conspired to get rid of everyone, karma is a bitch

RE: Clearly you don't ignore them.

Maybe that was the wrong choice of words. I should have said: I don't let them get under my skin, I just move on in search of useful information.

Also I shouldn't have implied the perpetrator was of a certain discipline when I meant "someone who slipped through cracks and prolly got walked before any of this started."

I would have said they are obviously someone who is deeply troubled and un-educated but I think we already established that. Yes?

OP: Be aware the trolls here trying to stir up stuff are probably not your ex-colleagues. In 15 years at Intel I still never met anyone who displayed this low an amount of intelligence of integrity even on their worst day. I have no idea what their motive is and don't care, I just ignore them. If you want to play the guessing game I would put my chips on a disgruntled technician or contract employee who got canned long before this layoff even started or just shortly before. Again these trolls are not your ex-colleagues.

"As long as Intel delivers on the package they told me that I am supposed to get,"

What a benefit entitlement attitude!

I agree with the original person who made this post (kipstis), and my situation very very similar.

I had a spotless record for many-many years until 8 weeks ago when I got "successful / SL4". It all happened so fast my head is still spinning.

In any case, I have a generous separation package due to many years of service and retirement eligibility.

As long as Intel delivers on the package they told me that I am supposed to get, I am good to move forward without any negative comments.

Happy thoughts!!!

I worked there 16 months but have not seen any collaboration there. People in tmg don't help each other. Ever one is working to save their own ass They including your manager want you to make simple mistakes so that they can document against you, f--- u in focal and make ur exit doors ready to open. I this the kind of great company culture we are taking about. It's broken broken n broken. Everyone is unhappy no matter u r out by ISP, vsp or u r still there. Hard to get out of here with the skills most of us have.
