Murthy apparently doing a good job. He is reconstructing his org pretty well. Unnesssry projects are cancelled, emphasizing on projects that can generate more money and moving resources there, some stagnant departments who have not delivered for the past 5 years are being let go, most importantly he is working with other org leaders to make sure the company works together. I think his strategy will take Intel to next level.

It will be hard to spin this layoff as "successful" in either strategy or execution...
No entrenched VPs are leaving. Only a couple of very good ones. Richard Taylor is the face of entrenchment, and he's safe as can be since management and HR watch each others' backs.
Murthy was brought in to be an axe man. He's certainly succeeding in that role - the cuts are happening and some entrenched VPs are gone.
After the cuts, there needs to be something else: a coherent strategy and a plan to rebuild morale and prevent the dysfunction that resulted in the current problems to re-emerge.
I have zero confidence in Murthy or BK (or DB or any of the other as*clowns in the current regime) being the kind of leader who can pull those off.

I knew Intel was in trouble when BK became CEO, but because it is impossible for an insider to change a company. But sometimes and outsider can cut incorrectly too.
Now the question, who will fix TMG which is so inbreed with yes man that nobody in anyplace of influence or power can possible see beyond what they were told to do and execute for the last 20 years!
