Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Anyone notice the bait and switch on the release forms for ISP?

Got my release form in the mail today. The section on payment have a couple doozies which I hope is just incompetence--and not a bait and switch.

1) When getting the boot, the base compensation (as said in the addendum) was 8 weeks + 1x apb target. On the release form it's only 2 weeks.

2) Also when getting the boot, the COBRA subsidy was either 6 mo +$9K or 12 mo. On the release, 3 mo + $9K or 9 mo. Funny thing is there is a contradicting form that came with the release which states 6 mo or 12 mo.

Seriously...WTF?

they said we would be notified by end of may. But (my opinion) you can file the paperwork anyway... it won't change anything with the appeal. They will just undo the severance if you will the appeal.

That said... my understanding is that you can only appeal your review. So they might change your review, making you no longer an isp. But you would almost definitely be a vsp candidate. And in some departments they turning vsp's into isp (non performance based). So they might just change your review and let you go anyway.

Can someone explain what happens to the ISPs that have put in an appeal? I am still waiting for my appeal result. Will I come to know of my appeal result Once they wire my last paycheck + 6 weeks of pay on 30th May? I would assume they need to conclude all the appeals before this last paycheck. Correct me if my understanding is wrong.

I agree with the previous poster. The paper work is accurate and lines up with what was promised. (though the previous poster had a typo on the cobra... its 3 months and $9k, or "9" months and $0. This added to the WARN act 3 months of paid cobra gets you to the quoted 6 or 12 month...

And if you are thinking about taking the 12 months, think very carefully. You are eligible for cobra for 18 months overall, the only question is who pays the bill. I called health benefits to get an estimate of what it would cost to pay for myself for one month (to finish out the year). It was $1402.59 (Family of 4 on HDHP). Multiply that by 9, and you get $8415.54. So I actually get more money taking the $9k. And of course if you get a new insurance, or get covered under your spouse, you get to keep even more of it. So check the math if you are thinking of taking the 12 months.

What caught me was the top sheet about the 6 or 12 months paid for cobra. It implies I don't have to send it in at all if I want the $9k. But if read carefully it doesn't specifically say you don't have to turn in the form, only you don't have to indicate a choice. So I gotta call in and check on that.

The payout is split Into two sections. The warn act payment is six weeks pay and three months of COBRA, that is section 1. The other 2 weeks of base pay, your variable separation pay, and the supplemental COBRA (3 and $9k or of 6 and $0) are covered in section two. The APB is apparently part of your last payroll check, which is why our last day is May 30 instead of 31st.

Just really poorly handled on the part of Intel.

With our meeting with HR (before we were walked out), there should have been a schedule of payments, decisions, etc.

It really doesn't matter to me whether I'll receive my last paycheck on May 31 + 6 weeks of pay (and 1X Bonus)...but it would be great to know!

The contract HR person who handled mine didn't know the simplest questions. We sat on hold with the "transition support" line for 45 minutes before giving up.

And I of course little things like not paying out my vacation time will leave me with a further bad taste in my mouth. Of course, I only found this out through diligence on my part (and have since filed a complaint with my state bureau of labor).

People affected by this restructuring are being treated like discarded trash. And everyone else in the company sees it. It's hard to rebuild loyalty and this certainly doesn't help!

Why did they have to make it so complicated?

HR couldn't answer my questions on the whole 8 weeks pay, I inquired to their knowledge on math. From last day of work until May 30th- that was 5 wks. Within the addendum ,it stated 8 wks pay and 1x apb target.

Honesty and Integrity along with showing up prepared to execute orders on people's livelihood - poorly planned. That's what happens when there's a knee jerk reaction on a global scope. Never the Intel I ever remembered. You can still move forward with a corporation on the values that the started the company and still run with a competitive edge. First and foremost Treat everyone Fairly

Well at least you've received your separation paperwork. Still waiting for mine.

For the separation pay. I was told by the help line yesterday that our last paycheck on the 31st would include:

2 wks pay for last 2 weeks of May + 6 wks separation pay.

Hopefully that explains the paperwork only stating 2 wks pay + years of service. The remainder of the payout for years of service ect. will be paid in late June early July after the paperwork is signed and processed.
