Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

For those who accepted VSP: how long former Intel's employees are restricted from working for a vendor?

So I accepted VSP and started looking for a job. One company, which is Intel's vendor, wants to hire me but then realize that I am not allowed to be on Intel's campus for at least 12 months after I quit working for Intel. When I asked Intel's HR, they confirmed the 12 month ban.

However, I used to see lots of green badges who worked for Intel as blue badges just a few months prior. Does anyone have any thoughts? Are these 12 months just guidelines or it can become an obstacle to being rehired? I've also heard that ISP people can't ever work for any Intel's vendor. Is it even legal to limit job opportunities for those who are being squeezed out of Intel?

@HvsTGIh-zxv, You are welcome. I would think if it applies to ISP it should apply to VSP as well. No, I am not at Intel site or a green badge. I work for a company and Intel is our largest customer. I make trips to Intel on daily basis w/o any issues. I would not apply for CW with Intel and not quite sure about the green badge. I don't think you can go back as green badge but I could be wrong. Good luck

@HvsTGIh-hjx, thank you SO MUCH for the useful information! I've found the document (Contingent Worker Engagement Policy) on Intel's website, but I have two questions:

It says that the policy applies only to employees who have formally entered an Involuntary Intel Corporate People Movement Program. What does it mean? If you leave with VSP (voluntary), is it applicable to you?

Also, are you working for a vendor on Intel's campus? did you get a green badge?

@HvsTGIh-hjx, No need to apply for CW with Intel. Simply you take the job with the vendor and you can start 2 days after your departure from Intel and nobody will say anything I have been doing this for a yr now. Just show them the detail from HR I posted. I had HR send me this and you will also find it on Intel web site. You can even google it. It will show up.

Wow super sad once again, I'm no expert but 90% of employees who had issues or wrote up last focal where targeted due to being overpayed because they excelled as an employee or are too old for the new "IoT". It's also sad to hear posts of people or HR saying it was deserved we own our own successes I say that's BS especially the last two years when managers were given green light to target dedicated employees with carriers over 20yrs.

Just curious, but why would you want to work for a vendor that is supporting the same Intel campus you just left. In my dealing with vendors while working for Intel, they were often treated worse than employees.

This is discrimination against people who choose to leave of their own accord!!

Could you please point where My CW page is?

"Contact: Global Contingent Workforce, Type in subject line of email: BB to CW conversions and specific region: i.e., Europe, Asia or US.

For any further information on this, please contact the folks at “My CW” page."

See the two business days?

From HR:While an employee may certain apply and be placed by an outside supplier at their sole discretion, it is strictly against Intel guidelines for us to instruct any outside company on who to hire or where to place them with us for legal reasons. Here are a few of the guidelines around this

Do not:

· Make the final decision regarding hiring), nor in any way influence the supplier on compensation, evaluation, discipline, rewards or termination of CW's.

· Become involved in any discussion with CWs or Suppliers regarding a CW's movement from one supplier to another supplier.

Also FYI – here is the excerpt of the guideline that covers the PMB and other similar situations for the employee to apply to a supplier and come back as they see fit however.

Former Employees Returning as Contingent Workers

Restrictions on when former employees may return back as contingent workers are in place because the risk of co-employment/de facto employment is highest where employees, who have recently left Intel, return to the same or similar work environment, and perform services under close direction of Intel managers. Restrictions on former employees returning to Intel are intended to lessen the likelihood that they will immediately return to the same situation in a different status. It also demonstrates that the separation of employment was genuine.

Contingent Worker Waiting Periods for Corporate People Movement Actions

In countries, where it has been deemed legally feasible, Intel's contingent worker (CW) waiting period is changed for employees who are part of an involuntary Corporate People Movement action.

The below policy applies only to employees who have formally entered an Involuntary Intel Corporate People Movement program:

· U.S. employees:

An employee may begin work with an Intel supplier if his/her start date is at least two business days after their separation date from Intel.

To verify eligibility of a former Intel employee for a CW assignment:

Contact: Global Contingent Workforce, Type in subject line of email: BB to CW conversions and specific region: i.e., Europe, Asia or US.

This is BS as well.

It used to be 12 months but since last year it was changed to 2 days after your departure from Intel. Whoever told you 12 months does not know what they are talking about. I have it in writing from HR and been with a Intel vendor since last year and been going to Intel few times a week.
