it seems like there will be a second round of cuts....what are the rumours or information that suggests that as a part of the second round the early retirement age + yrs of service will be offered as a part of it. i turn 55 in a very short time frame.

Take the offer whether ERP or VSP. You still have time at 55 yrs of age to reinvent yourself.
@edf, @itz - If that were true, then why didn't all ERP get VSP also? I lot of folks got both ERP and VSP. I would say it's pretty clear in that case, take the ERP and get out. But if you are eligible for ERP but did not get VSP, especially in the case of @wtb with SSL2 last focal, why not stay if you really want to?

ERP people don't realize they are VSP who met rule of 75. I hear them talking as if VSP is a different animal. It's not, Intel wants you to leave.
Yes there are more rounds. There is something they have referred to as 'phase 2' coming. They have also promised to continue until 12k is cut. So whatever that takes we can expect. My understanding is if you are retirement eligible and you are hit by any ACT actions you will get ERP equivalent.
