Seagate to commercialize HAMR HDDs in 2017, seriously?...Sounds like a delusional statement from a self-proclaimed "technology leader" that was 3 years behind WD/HGST in commercializing He-filled drives and is known for its unreliable disc drive products. Given its poor track record in conventional HDD reliability, it is hard to believe that Seagate has figured out an effective solution to a much more complex reliability problem: long term thermal robustness of HAMR head-disc interface ...Or, perhaps Seagate's plan is to integrate reliable non-Seagate heads/platters into its HAMR HDDs...who knows, who cares

"Seagate's products are terrible" - theres only Seagate and WD, do you have a choice?
promises....promises....since 1998.
HAMR will work as good as the Triton underwater breathing gill and the Fontus self-filling water bottle.
Seagate's products are terrible when I was there and even more so now. Datacenters I visited have it piles of failed Seagate products. HAMR going to be trash and it's HDD. Get with the times already. HDD is pager technology.
