Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Is there anything out there that benchmarks an Intel fab against TSMC (number of wafers, staffing, cost, etc...)?

Trying to gauge where we are heading!

Apple is counting on some company to ramp from 0 to volumes that exceed x86 CPU and it ain't Intel.

PSO got fired because he missed Apple and bet on x86

BK will get fired soon because he is doing IoT and server/cloud. Just ask IBM and the others how much money is in high margin that can be done by ARM or something with huge volume like x86 what it did to POWER, SPARC, PARISC, Alpha... volume wins!

Absolutely correct. TSMC has incredible momentum and smells the blood in the water. They will overtake Intel shortly and never look back. Chip technology has fallen way off the Intel radar. No new funding in that area. It will die or be spun off. See IBM and Motorola histories for information.

Intel should sell the Fabs to TSMC before they won't take it anymore for being too outdated.

All of the SK companies beat us in lower labor by about 40%. If TSMC is truly headed for 10nm tapeout by EOY and Intel does not match that goal the volume of layoffs next summer (possibly sooner) will significantly higher.

Just the mere fact that Fab mgmt is scrambling to develop plans for a competitive Fab should tell you something. These numbnuts were caught completely off guard. Shmucks.
