Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

What is a "buyback". Someone today mentioned that they have been put on the project critical list and are being offered a buyback

Does it mean they will buyback the VSP or will they will buy/urge the employee by offering some incentive to stay with the project?

Buybacks are needed because this is yet another instance where fairness comes before effectiveness. The most evil of the "fairness" before effectiveness policies at Intel is the quota system that BK installed for 2020. Bye bye white guys, hello those who have the "right" skin color. Firing veterans en-mass... nothing could be more destructive of institutional knowledge and at the same time backfiring by destroying fairness of opportunity by forcing fairness of "outcome".

Well they may not be gutting the greats but they are taking out a lot of goods.

Might happen more but with projects cancelling they'll move people around.
