Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

ISP and takers of vsp/erp staying in the same career

If taking the offer are you staying in the same tech career.

Branch out into some sideways in the non tech sector or government.

Work for Starbucks ☕️

I took VSP last year and decided to take time off to detox from Intel. I also decided to leave the semiconductor industry and take my skills and experience to a new industry. I got a professional and highly recognized/regarded certificate and have been looking for a job in earnest for 5 months. This week, this appear to have really turned around and I had 2 phone interviews already. I have found that you need to know someone on the inside of a company to get your foot in the door. After 20 years at Intel, my network was very anemic outside the Intel penitentiary. I began working with staffing agencies and one of them hooked me up good with this possible job. Yes, I had to take a pay cut no matter where I went - just nature of the beast. But if you can restructure your finances and life, you will be happier to be rid of Intel. I fell sad for the people who have gotten pushed out the door, people who are staying and the company in general. It's not the Intel I hired into 21 years ago and I agree, the ship is taking on water fast. C'mon, even rats know when to bail from a sinking ship.

I have better opportunities out of my current skill set so will concentrate on the larger fgield of opportunity. Only need 4-6 years before permanently retiring or part time position.

Didn't win the lottery so need some income as I still got a kid in HS and while Starbucks sounds fun and won't make enough for me and I need another 5-10 years. BK really screwed me, I've worked 60-80 hours and never got a level 4, loved the job and was thinking I'd retire at this company. But maybe a good thing as the ship is taking water fast, not clear if it will sink

Got irons the fire in the same field and will see shortly. Word of advice get out there early as there will be a lot of VSP, ISP and others looking to leave the ship as the ship got leaks and not clear if it will sink like Kodak, run aground like BB.
