Keeping them for the yield, I used to sell but I'm diversified now, LOL
Buy a cheap index S&P500 ETF and invest for the long term, unless you need the money.
I'm ERPed. Hanging on until 2017 to sell Intel and reduce the tax hit, I'll have a lot less income next year and also get more benefit from long term capital gains.
Regulated utilities have been doing nicely for me and have good dividends. I figure nobody is going to stop using electricity.
Many stocks pay same or higher dividend as intc. Consider writing covered calls to boost your return. Look for high dividend companies and diversify a little is the common wisdom.
Wait a little bit- Based on past companies (GE, IBM,GF,ect) dealings Intel will be forced by shareholders to shift to an "ideas" company soon and they will spin off the fab business to another company which will boost the share price for a quarter or two.
@wam, you are not counting dividends, which you don't see with your short sales.
Based on 40 by 18-19
Best case is 33% gain in two years
15% yearly rate of return
Worse (assuming it does go to 40 in 19)
9.9% yearly rate of return
@vqk Yeah but how many shares do you own.
How many is too much. I basically never sold any spp
Dividends are nice though
I guess it would be ironic to live of the dividends, selling 40 will be let go by intel
LONG will out at $40 in 2018-19
There is an upcoming shareholders meeting. Have you voted your shares?
