@hza, because we can and that's what the h1b program was meant for. It wasn't intended to bring in cheap slaves to destroy American middle class. People from around the world want to come here(or at least they did before trade agreements destroyed American economy). We should bring in the best and the brightest if at all. Besides we also allow naturalized citizens to bring in their relatives regardless of their skill sets. We are not bigots. Why don't you guys bring in more people from Pakistan and Afghanistan to work in your own country India if you think you are generous?

@xsi, these h1bs are not productive. Whatever they do, we can get them to do it from their own country with American workers sourcing their work remotely from here. Except for PhDs and real innovators or successful entrepreneur, no one should get h1bs.

I dont think their are so many americans to replace current h1b headcount... What would your take on that ?
1) Do it right away , Lets companies shutdown, in scarcity of tech resources . No growth , No fat pay checks anymore and economy bound to collapse.
2) Plan the act in next 5 years to get rid of all H1bs by the time , America get ready for their youngsters (Ofcourse, after convincing them STEM is cool ! ) .
Or you have something more sensible in mind are sending back h1b back home ? Share it , being practical in what you say

Either let them work here and spend the money in America or the jobs go overseas.
