To all current/past Intel american employees:
I think you guys have a myth that H1B workers at intel get less salary than you. The reality is they get the same salary and benefits as you get. So honestly there is no point in taking the H1B workers at Intel, they might be hired at Green badge employees. Some of you even said that the H1B workers when they get green card gets a huge salary hikes. That is not true. Share your thoughts!
By-the-way Intel, unlike other companies, applies for Green Card very quickly. I got in withing 1 year after joining Intel through EB-1 category as I get 900+ citations, 25+ papers in high impact peer review journals, several awards (one intentional) , reviewed (referee) 30+ journals submissions/manuscripts etc. My be it does not matter in the current context, but I just wanted to highlight to my American buddies that we work hard to get green cards and get it through USCIS in a legal way. It's not as easy as it may sound. I agree H1B lottery is arbitrary, if you are lucky you get it. Else you keep applying as long as your OPT is valid.
People mention contracting companies and H1B. That has nothing to do with Intel. These posters are just a bunch of anti H1B people trying to get more support for their own beliefs. I wish they wouldn't come to the Intel forum to waste our time.
@HosKvL5-hbg I joined Intel at Grade 7 with 117k (I would consider this as cheaper if Americans with grade 7 are getting way more than that).. I recently got green card, but no increase in salary at all (no one talks about it). I only got 1.9% base increase after focal.. that's all.
To further explain MYTHS :
1) H1b after studying from US universities are paid equal than US counterpart . Only consultancy companies(TCS , Cognizant , Infy ,Accenture etc) pay less to employees , who bring bunch of people together to so called replacing US citizens ( They give $65k in places like NY) ...
2) Green card gets big hike for H1b ... Green card process itself take 8-10 Years , from the date company files that . Which is usually 2 years of joining .
3) H1b if loses job , they have to find next job within 2 weeks of last working day, Or else Go back to Home country as Visa is expired automatically . SO , think how job security is for h1b..
4) H1bs are preferred against US citizens . I am not sure why.. What I saw during different hiring events, I was told by my White manager, was very less US citizen applied & so 70% are H1bs , 30% are US citizens and same distribution is reflected when they call in for Interview & Final hiring.
OP is correct, but there's no point trying to talk sense to these losers that won't do anything but complain. Go ahead and complain to your heart heart's desire instead of doing something more productive. Less competition for me.

@-qaa I am not lying. The fact is the H1B workers who works for consulting companies in India get 25% less than American workers. This is the reason behind the Consulting companies trying to lobby in favor of more H1B workers so that they can make more profit. The H1B slaves who works in US even claim that they are employed in Nike, PGE etc. while the reality is they are contract workers and will migrate to another state/country when the contract ends and they are employed by Indian Consultancy companies.
The OP is lying. Use Google and you will see H1B VISAS are 25% cheaper minimum. As a hiring manager I take them all the time. We have complete control over them and pay them less. That's the facts.
the reason H1B are desirable is because the company has option not to renew their visa or convert to green card after 6 years which means Intel isn't committed to them long term...that's the benefit. Intel can continually turn it's workforce without the risk of having long term employees getting YoY promo increases and stock. Hence, after 6 years Intel can term the visa, get a replacement H1B and start fresh. With American workers, Intel runs into the dilemma of having a workforce in one grade level for several years or huge salary, the only way they can rid them is by doing large RIF actions, or having such a rigorous performance management strategy that they are purging their American workers every 6 - 8 years. That's the appeal of H1B versus hiring US Citizens.
