I am eligible for VSP but didnt get a letter from Bryant... I got one from Sohail. Does that hold the same clout for unemployment?
Everybody got the letter from Bryant. I got one in Monday from lower level than Bryant

Take a picture of it...
and you can take a pic of it with your mobile phone, and print the image on your personal computer/device...there are many ways to get that letter.

The strong advise to take the VSP came protected that you can't forward, copy or print .
everyone who was offered VSP received the same letter on Monday from D.Bryant. Recommend you print it out or save a copy for your records so you have a case for EDD appeal and agree with @1xel, VSP is a way for Intel to avoid paying the employer portion of UI though the larger reason is shareholders, because Intel has publicly stated that the majority of the layoffs are "performance based" which wall street loves, it gives them the impression that h/c reduction is positive. When companies announce layoffs due to product launch failures it scares shareholders. In fact, if you read all of the press about these layoffs, Intel comms team has done a superb job spinning this as a positive reduction and that it doesn't have anything to do with Intel's failed roadmaps....ppl need to jump ship. Cut the cord, it's not the same company we worked for in the 80s/90s :(

VSP is not voluntary by any means. It's a way for intel to avoid paying unemployment.

file electronically and you'll receive an answer in snail mail with the denial letter and the form to file an appeal. Don't even bother calling the EDD number, it sends you in an infinite loop and eventually hangs up on you :(
Electronic or paper copy?
in CA VSP is considered voluntarily leaving your job (resigning) therefore Intel denies the claim when the EDD sends the request to them. If you get ISP Intel approves the UI request. Having said that, you can apply, and then if you get denied there's an appeal process where you can submit information to EDD for reconsideration and some have posted on here that they were able to successfully appeal the denial by providing documentation that although they left with VSP, they really had no choice. Be sure to save a copy of that letter that went out on monday with the firm "take VSP" verbiage, you may be able to win appeal by providing that as it's pretty clear that VSP is not so voluntary!
