Thread regarding Nokia Corp. layoffs

Forget the FEAR, and ask away. Let's put our heads together to beat Huawei/Ericsson. Exec say we are #1, but we all know we are still #3.

I have noticed that a lot of employees fear asking top executives about layoffs, reductions, cuts, synergies. Why are we so afraid? The worst they can do is fire us and that's going to happen anyway. So why not ask what's on everyone's minds. Forget the fear. If you ask, you may get an answer or at least the executives will know that cutting people is not the right thing to do, but coming up with a strategy to grow the company is the right thing to do. Besides, why are only a dozen or so people involved in coming up with a strategy. The entire company should get involved and come up with great ideas. We all know that fNokia/fALU /Nokia have smart people working (engineers/managers/designers/architects/developers), so why can't we all put our heads together to come up with a great strategy. Each group within the organization should have a brain storming session once a month to come up with good ideas and then managers need to make sure those ideas are acted on.

I also noticed there is a huge gap in training employees. It seems each region has it's own training. For example, I know for a fact that the Chinese don't share their training information (or any information) with other countries even though they are part of Nokia. Also, everything is in the Chinese language. The training is all in Chinese. The slides are all in Chinese. So none of the foreigners from outside China can learn from the China training material. I think our CEO should tell everyone in the company to use ENGLISH as the official language for documents, training, emails, etc.
