Pack your stuff from your cubicle before presenting your resignation to your manager then you just need to sign that physical doc to your manager and leave the laptop and badge and don't look back
Anyone would have a v low self esteem if they still hope/wish/long to get re-hired. The door is slammed shut. Get over it.
didn't the official faq change recently to state you can leaves as soon as you accept the vsp and no worries?
I talked with my manager about this, just for curiosity's sake.
Technically, if you take the VSP then your last day is June 24th come hell or high water. Nothing will change that, and you can click the accept button and walk out that day if you wish (though you may have to come back one last time to hand in your laptop).
That said, doing that will burn bridges and don't forget you're eligible for rehire. Don't expect your manager to be keen on hiring you again, and if he does an exit report in your file then that could hurt you in the long run too. Not to mention any word-of-mouth that gets around in the management circles.
Best advice my manager gave was to talk it over with your manager. Tell him you're accepting the VSP and arrange an exit date. Tell him that you want out asap and as long as you're not on anything super urgent then 1-2 weeks should be more than enough to hand over your tasks to the rest of your team and leave on good terms.

@1swz: I'm not sure where you are located, but something similar happened recently in NM.
Enjoy the time off. Don't take a chance of being flat out fired and losing your VSP. Make one error and you will be walked out on the spot with no buyout $$$.
When I was put on VSP in 2014, i was put under a different manager within 2 weeks. That manager was no where to be found and never answered my dozens of queries.
I just showed up 2 times per week to check in and fill out time cards. I avoided all contact with previous co-workers. This went on for 5 months. Sounds bizarre but it shows how Intel is in total disarray right now.
If one was so inclined and very intelligent, one could stay on the payroll for years.
It's between you and the manager to set a release date anytime before June 24th.
I have a buddy who took it and is outta there...Don't work, the manager, Intel, BK are so happy to see you leave, one less person they have to think to decide who to leave.
Leave, enjoy the time off, and if you are lucky start the retirement early, or start looking early. Last thing you should do is work while others are looking and interviewing for the job you might want too!
Let Intel starting learning early what they lost in letting you go too!
They say people have until June 2nd to accept VSP and managers don't get notified until something like the 10th. But it would be pretty obvious if you just stop coming into work before then.
You have to negotiate a release date, but I believe June 2nd is the last day you come into work. You'll get paid till June 24th and then you should receive your package after you sign the release. Call the the VSP number.

Take your vacation
Not true, work out your last day with your manager. Pushed the button on Monday and last day is Tues the 25th. On payroll thru June 23 and then cobra kicks in for 6 mos or what you've chosen. One VSP Co worker left on Thursday.
