Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

I Love this website

Nothing beats being able to spread information about the dirt that's being blown around Intel.

I work in TD and had left HVM. Hindsight is 20:20 and I saw all this coming when my old department decided to start hiring rcgs, green badges and seeds from foreign countries to take the process.

It is true, Intel doesn't need geniuses to work on these tools. However, it does take a special individual to learn a tool and to execute process with perfect quality. The people that are being "replaced" are Not doing Intel any favors. Between the low quality replacements, loss of talent, and the man power that it takes to enable any kind of change on the floor. I would honestly be completey surprised if Intel doesn't end up like AMD. I hope I'm wrong, because I still work here and still hope Intel can be the company I once dreamed and wished to work for.

Intel will definitely be a good short play in a year or two when things really start to break. Although ARM long might be better return. For the sake of your career GET OUT OF INTEL NOW!

Once they lost the technology lead, the ball game was over. Now they need to become a competitive foundry. Good luck with that!

Agree when you look around TD lots of RCGs, fresh PhDs from lots of different disciplines doing very mundane things that a BS or even a technician you trust with experience can do.

All the important stuff come from the older guys, the managers. Very little autonomy given to the new guys.

Now they start layoff.. hmm what is the criteria, long time in grade, maxed on on capability. Couldn't that be many of their hardest working, experienced folks, senior hard working Gr8, maybe Gr9 or even Gr7 engineers that maxed out, work hard have lots of experience. Warning from BK since you aren't advancing you must be an idiot and no value to the company, please leave! We rather have RCGs with NO experience, or fast rising superstars do everthing, average job blow of no value to the company...

Some groups I hear are decimated across the factory, got barely trained people running things.. will be interesting times. Lots of senior people now worrying should I take the buyout as the next package will be hinted worse. Moral is low, and everyone is wondering what will happen.

Will the next generation come on time, if not what will happen, it ain't like Intel has a backup plan or products on older generations, its all or nothing. What if it comes late by a year or two... hmmm
