Thread regarding Nokia Corp. layoffs

Initially, 900 million euro's of cuts was planned between now and 2018, but now our CEO tells us there will be more than 900M Euros in job cuts

Nokia has 2/3 more people then Alcatel-Lucent (which has 1/3 the amount in mobile networks group) + they now have the top three USA customers (VerizonWireless, ATT, Sprint) which they inherited from buying ALU + ALU products are superior in features and performance since these products were built based on what VzW and ATT wanted

AND now they are planning to cut people in USA and get rid of the ALU products.

I don't understand why VzW/ATT would agree to swap out ALU product with Nokia product. They must be getting a discount on the upcoming 5G product would be my guess.

the large carriers are going to a NFV, SDN, API model, open software and automation

eg ATT wants 70% of all products virtualized in cloud NFV SDN by 2020

(because long term they will run out of people due to retirement = GenX)
