Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Cut the managerial fat at AZFSM. Intel needs to follow through on their own brilliant plan.

AZFSM is infested with many levels of useless management. As they keep firing engineers and technicians, who actually know how to run factory operations, they will be left with very few people who have intimate knowledge of the manufacturing process. Try putting any of these mgrs in a position where they would actually have to either run tools or keep processes in control. Forget it! Now with production starts shrinking is a real good time to slice 50% of the mgmt off the top and retrain the others to actually do useful work as mentioned above.

The managers at AZFSM only care about themselves, not their team. I had met my mgr on several occasions to help define a plan complete with many tasks that would get me to the next level. I toiled many hours documenting the plan and my FLM liked it and even agreed that by completing these projects on the given timeline would ensure a promotion. He took plan to SLM and this guy basically shredded it saying, "there are no guarantees". So it was back to square one, no plan, complete confusion and just do what the manager wants.

The factory managers at AZFSM most of the time ask the first level MTLs to report (is by way of slide heavy presentation) to them. Hence, the DMs and AMs are not needed, they are figureheads and provide no contribution to the good of the site. The AM and DM level can be fired and there would be no net impact on group performance other than to get rid of a bunch of useless, backstabbing individuals.

It is the same in the design world. 7 to 8 levels of management between the people doing the real work and the CEO.

Anybody else out there who has experienced TacOps at Fab32 or as we call it the "Beating hour?". 1 hour of " you can do better" followed by " the real loosers stay after class for more beatings".

"He has his two colleagues in crime actually "training* him. These two guys have much more semiconductor technology experience so can cover for SM as he makes his many awful decisions. "

I personally know one of them when he was a GL at Fab22 and he worked his way up being a yes man being a total back stabbing douche. Hint, initals are JE,

There was a point, while working in AZFSM, that I could never find the guy that HR said I reported to but I had FOUR other area managers who acted like I reported to them. Awful.

And now they have a new layer of management (department managers) to keep track of the fleet or area managers.

Craziness.

Yeah. Take the site mgr. He didn't actually earn this post. He is a transplant from a Malaysian assembly facility. He has no clue about semiconductors. Simply a way to give diverse candidate that US experience. He has his two colleagues in crime actually "training* him. These two guys have much more semiconductor technology experience so can cover for SM as he makes his many awful decisions. Problem is that the two colleagues come with up through engineering ranks and are totally clueless about business decisions. This is an incompetent, three-headed disaster.

They could easily cut a few thousand of them and it would be a drop in the bucket. Unfortunately, they protect their own which explains why Intel is top heavy with lots bureaucracy.

Have you seen how fat Def Met is at the "managerial" level. There are so many they are standing on each other's toes. I guess they need that many because none of them know what mood the manic AM will show up in on any given day.

The managerial fat in azfsm is unreal. I love the opportunity to have a boss for 1270 and 1272. Can we bring in another to manage the managers?

Crazy talk. What we really need is another layer of management on top of those incompetent managers to keep them in line!
