Just some advice. I did get unemployment after taking VSP in 2014. Intel will most likely not bother to contest. They don't have the time to document a case against every unemployment claim.
Also, apply for educational benefits under US department of labor laws. Basically your jobs are being sent overseas. Good chance to go back to school if you can take the time.

In response to education question. I'll get some links posted soon. It varies by state. I am able to go back to school paid for in full. (no extra pay). It's a government benefit that occurs when jobs are shipped overseas.
I think you could apply for UI even if you took the VSP based on 2 things:
Intel seem to coerced and forced you to take the VSP by latest email sent out to VSP candidates. So to me it just like layoffs.
VSP group is a very large chunk of # Intel employees and so they won't have time to challenge your unemployment applications.
What are the educational benefits, do they pay for taking classes?
People who qualify for retirement at the time of ISP should get both retirement ERP and apply for unemployment as well.
