I thought you only got cashed out for sabbatical in California?
That's what HR said last year when I got laid off.

They will cash out sabbatical if it has been approved. Regardless, you should take the VSP if it has been offered.
If you already eligible for the sabbatical they will crash you out, look in circuit, it should say something about that; and on top that the moment you except the Vsp you'll be paid through June 23rd without having to work it. Not bad.
They cash out the sabbatical if you are due it.
I am 99% sure you lose it if it wasn't previously approved and scheduled.
I would try to ask for the 2 months sabbatical first, and then afterward, when you come back, ask for VSP.
You most likely will lose your 2 months sabbatical.
