I never worked in Kirk's organization and I did not know him. When the news of his departure came out I thought bringing an outsider as his boss was the reason for his departure. Now, I want to believe his departure was not a coincident. He left days before the layoff announcement because he did not want to be part of this mess. He did not want to go in front of his organization, like lat's say his counterpart Mr. Davis, and say employees affected will be treated with "respect and dignity". He knew how those employees were going to be treated instead.

I had a ton of respect for Kirk. Yes, past tense. I guess I still do from a professional perspective, but I was actually very close friends with him for years...so I am speaking from a personal perspective. Long story but, on a personal level, I have lost respect for him. Let's just say he is not a loyal friend. He will kick you to the curb if he feels he no longer needs your friendship. At least he seems to be loyal to his employers and those who work for him. I will always vouch for him from that perspective but, that said, my personal experience does say something about his overall character.
Say what you will about Kirk, he is a smart cookie. The only Intel VP smarter than he was Gelsinger and he was smart enough to get out of dodge. That said, don't shed any tears. All VPs at Intel are multimillionaires. And you don't get to VP at Intel (in ANY group) by being a 'nice guy'. I know a lot of VPs and NONE of them are 'nice guys (or gals)'. Now, some are nicer than others and many can seem very nice if you chat personally with them, but ALL of them would throw you under the bus in a heartbeat if they felt the need...

All the glorified paper pusher VPs just want to hang on as long as they can, coz they have no future elsewhere, so why not milk Intel dry until then. I know people in management -all those gr 9 and above are so shallow and glib without substance - look for them in HR/TMG/Legal/Govt Affairs/ CS/ Sales are full of blow bloughs. I have seen them doing their personal stuff and running errands and mark their calendars as busy. If they dont have anything to do they keep sending memos/emails - managing by memos- some in legal and HR group are very good at that to justify their existence). All these id**ots are gr 10s and glorified paper pusher VPs. Been long here to watch this bull.

Kirk failed to see the problem as he's hitting all the success metrics so why change? Anyone who says different is shown the door or managed out. BK can make big announcements on 40 million tablets sold as the stock goes everyone is happy. Business slows. Murthy comes in and shouts BS. Rather then stay and fight Kirk runs with 'dignity and respect' so he is not tainted and he can get a bigger job somewhere else. Cares about his employees? No. AE hides behind BK. DD retires with dignity & respect, kudos to him fot sticking around. The diversity metrics is another BS senior leaders are hiring women to meet the metrics as that's part of their success , which is a shame as talented women can compete equal with any man. Who pays for the 'mistakes' of our so called leaders 12000 employees and their families maybe 5% are actual performance related . After 20 years no dignity or respect, goodbyes for them. I wish them all well And wait for my turn but better prepared and the reality that Intel cares is a myth. No personal belongings, children's pictures , it's just a factory.
Dont think so. Kirk was well known throughout his career for caring about everyone he managed. I suspect a number of VPs left due to frustration w/ the culture changes.
This is one example of rats eating the rats. BK just took his knife and stuck it might between Kirk's shoulder blades when he made Murthy his boss. That's gratification for you. Applaud Kirk for doing the right thing.

I think you're giving Kirk far far too much credit. He was pissed about being eliminated from the CEO position. And, realistically, they asked him to leave. Kirk doesn't give a sh-- about anyone other than himself and he career path. Him saying "people first" was no less a lie than "respect and dignity".
All these people in Corp VPs and above care about is their ass their ego, and their money. They couldn't give a sh-- about their employees unless it is to make them look good.
