Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Job interviews and famous question: Why are you leaving Intel?

Every single job interview i go, they are asking, why are you leaving Intel? Is everything alright there? What am i supposed to say? It doesn't look good to say I am VSPed. I wish instead of packages, our reputation was just left alone and they could have saved more money and us our reputation. We could have walked out of the door being proud ex employees. I couldn't even share this with my family yet. Nor my coworkers.

Tell them what happened: As they might have heard in the news, Intel is laying off approximately 12,000 people and - despite many wonderful accomplishments - you're part of it. You're ready for your next challenge.

I can repeat what I've answered on my interviews (left Intel 6 months ago):

1) Intel is a big company. I have been lucky to work on many succesful projects which were challenging and contributed to my professional advancement.

2) an I have many great coleagues but I feel the pace at the company is too slow.

2) Too much politics around every descision.

3) The future is not clear as Intel fails entry into new fields.

@HhfjtHW-lsc , i know who you are (having a 1:1 with yourself is the words of that person, everyone at QGS would notice). You are demonstrating what kind of person you are. nobody was nodding at the QGS and you are too cheap to curse at ex employees who worked many years for you. I wont go doen to your level. You should do 1:1 with yourself and ask have i been successful over the past 4 years which costed thousands of people their jobs. Nutcracker, original poster.

Even if there were no layoffs, interviewers will ask why you're leaving your current company. It's a standard and legitimate question to ask.

I had a phone screen for a job today. They know it. They started the screening by asking if I was affected by recent Intel news? My answer was "yes, about 2000 jobs in the three major US sites have been and continue to be eliminated in the coming weeks and months. My project got cancelled and I was one of the first whose job was eliminated....". I don't think we have to try very hard giving an answer. Just say your job was affected by the recent news.

Just say after being very "successful" for 4 years in a row you've decided to have a 1:1 with yourself and you didn't believe in the strategy but weren't getting paid enough to nod your head like a f---ing dog and pretend at the QGS.

You can say that tired of Management's unclear vision and poor decisions driving cloudy future for Intel. I don't see my career growing at Intel and inhibit my contribution to fast moving tech world Innovations. Don't want to be left behind.

You can also say that there is lot of instability at Intel. Sites are closing, projects are closing. Moral is low. Everyone is nervous about their jobs. Thought that this is a good time to change job. Trying to find a more stable place. Many folks have received severance package. But people are trying to run for safer ground irrespective of whether they received package or not. I am no exception.

I am looking for change. Also, Intel offered me a severance package that I could not refuse. They need to know you took the severance package as they will eventually find out but they won't know between VSP and ISP so just tell them you took a severance package. Good luck.
