Stuck on the horns of a dilemma... 30+ years at Intel and > 60 years old.. I hate to say it but I'm still unsure about leaving.. I still live the company, but maybe I've been around too long. I have a great manager and +1 manager who are doing everything they can to keep me.. Man it's tough to leave this place...

I recommend that you take the money and run. Leave Intel on your terms and not theirs. I took VSP last year after I got a 1 day notice that I was on the sht list. I was 51 yrs with 20 yrs at Intel and thought I had a good manager. Wrong!!! Manager went out on mini-sabbatical plus 2 weeks vacation and that's when I got the message to "reconsider taking VSP" by the person covering for my manager. Wow, what a total mindfck. I took the money and ran, needed time to detox and now I'm moving forward on my own business. I remember how proud I was to work at Intel all those years ago and how ashamed I was to work there in the later years at Intel. Too bad. I think Intel is going to die a slow death. I feel sorry for all the older folks.
OP - it has been great so far and I enjoy my job. my mgrs stated they gave me >Ssl 3 stock last focal to avoid any chance of getting picked this round plus to give me a year or 2 buffer. some folks don't understand the emotional ties after decades here. Especially the millennials.

Take it, I'm 56 and 27 years at Intel and it's obvious to me what is going on. That being said, if you're a female or under represented minority your chances are MUCH higher of not being targeted. There's life after Intel, and it's a better life.
30+ years, 60+, ERP...ummm, what's to think about. After 30+ years I assume you are a millionaire several times over? If not, what have you been doing with all the money?! GO!
If you are over 60 and not a grade 10 or above, I am afraid your days are numbered. All of these ISPs have a measure of trying to get rid of higher paid older folks as far as I can tell. Unless your boss loves you and is willing to go to bat for you you can guarantee that your name will be on the HR unofficial list. They will be looking for any performance reason possible to get rid of you.. and it won't be with a years pay and two years of COBRA either... if you have enough saved for retirement and you can do it, I would take it unless you have a real good reason not to.
My neighbor is in the same boat. He is 62 and he was offered ERP. He was like why take a years salary when I can work from home 5 days a week , for the next 3 years and retire then. He is not interested in any more promotions. So he is just taking everything very lightly. He called us over for barbecue on Wednesday lunch time and he told me he wfh all the time. Nice life
dont leave yet if you are not ready and you still enjoying it especially if you have good management . Just be aware that you are now a target and most likely you will be present with an ISP next time, whenever that may be.
But in the mean time, just keep getting pay every month the good salary+benefits and when they knock the door again with the ISP then just pack and go but you would have earn a good chunk of money from now to then were if you leave now you still not fully ready for SS or 401k plus you will not get a job in the next 3-4 years that pays as much as you are getting now . Just milk it my brother and keep it on the low end with not much stress , you have earn it!!!
You can retire for real, hang on till the end- just have your bags packed and when they come for you just say "ha ha, you caught me, what took you so long?" and enjoy your entitlements you earned them. If you are not ready to retire yet, take the package and run while you still have time to do something else. That's what I did- at 52 they were wasting my time. Time I don't have much left of. why would you want to stay? after 30 years, you can see how the culture has changed for the worse. Why wait till you get tapped on the shoulder, given a paper bag and 5 minutes to to put your personnel belongings in it and then be escorted out the door? if thats your idea of dignity after 30 years, perhaps you should stay cause your're dead already

OP here... too young to retire but I'd like to work till I'm 65... don't really care what, but have to keep the mind active.. I've seen too many folks retire and drop dead
There's more to life than a job. Take the years pay and go do something else until you're ready for real retirement.
