Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

The Motley Fool - Intel Corporation: It's Time to Replace CEO Brian Krzanich

http://www.fool.com/investing/general/2016/05/05/intel-corporation-its-time-to-replace-ceo-brian-kr.aspx?source=yahoo-2 only after privately communicating these cancellations to industry and financial analysts did Intel publicly confirm them to journalists.

Moore's Law leadership lost

In 2013, Krzanich told investors that its 10-nanometer chip manufacturing technology would be ready for mass production by the end of 2015. Not only would Intel move to more advanced technologies more quickly than the competition, but Intel's technology was expected to be far superior to "comparable" manufacturing technologies from the competition.

The reality of the situation has turned out to be much grimmer.

Intel's 14-nanometer technology was delayed from the end of 2013 into the first half of 2014, and even in late 2015 management was talking about its plans to improve manufacturing yields on this technology.

According to Semiconductor Engineering's sources, Intel is planning to "move into 10nm production by mid-2017." This jibes with Intel's claim that its first 10-nanometer products will arrive in the second half of 2017.

This is a delay of a year-and-half, nearly the time that it should take between two chip manufacturing technology generations.

This delay has allowed Intel's competition to narrow the gap between themselves and the chip giant. It is not clear at this point whether Intel will even have a so-called "manufacturing lead" by the second half of 2018.

Wonder what the board was thinking when they put BK and Renee in charge?

Let's put the tired guy and the fat lady at the helm. The lady wasted 8 billion on Mcafee acquisition and the dude wasted 10 billion on mobile effort. One of them is gone and other one needs to go.

BK looks too tired and unexcited towards life in general. Not fit for a leader.

There is a reason BK is from San Jose State. Look where the other technology CEOs come from. Not saying their aren't smart people but in general the ones from good schools are smarter. BK ain't no Einstein... he may work hard but he ain't no Einstein and right now Intel needs someone with vision not some drone from SJS

Here's what I learned in the "Microinequities" class. See if you can determine the subtle differences in each sentence:

"I" didn't say BK has ruined the business

I DIDN"T say BK has ruined the business

I didn't SAY BK has ruined the business

I didn't say "BK" has ruined the business

I didn't say BK HAS ruined the business

I didn't say BK has RUINED the business

I didn't say BK has ruined THE business

I didn't say BK has ruined the BUSINESS

4 hours WELL spent.

BK Needs more time my ass You want to wait till another 10 billion is wasted? The rainbow coalition loves BK and will support him here. If you want to oust BK, make a coherent case against him that points out all his failures as a CEO. Then post your views on the internet. Articles, comments to Seeking alpha, motley fool etc. We all need to make noise to get our voices heard. INTC cannot afford BK at the helm.

Right now there is a required four hour class about MICROINEQUITIES. Yes, the Meritocracy is dead.

Let's not forget the "foundry" venture...

...this was a much hyped "growth area" many years ago.....

The big companies are still very much sticking with TSMC...I don't know much about semiconductor technology, but I assume it's safe to say that such poor adoption says something about what is being offered.

The end of the text, and VERY end (last sentence) is very important!

Replace Krzanich before it's too late

Things appear to have gotten significantly worse for Intel since Krzanich has taken the helm and, as the old saying goes, "the fish rots from the head down." I believe that the best chance that the company has to course correct is to install a new CEO.

The tricky part will be to find a CEO that knows what it takes to allow Intel to become a chip manufacturing technology leader while at the same time knows that Intel is more than just a chip manufacturing house -- it's a processor/platform design house that uses cutting edge chip manufacturing technology to build high-value products.

Here's hoping the Board of Directors gets cracking -- the clock is ticking.

The clock is ticking... And ARM is rising. NOT only by ARM licencees, but also by Foundry... Closing more and more on INTEL!
