Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Multiple lawyers are interested in taking up my case. Any suggestions or things to watch out for?

I have been reading articles and blogs about layoffs in the US and abroad for years . . . if any of you are seriously considering a law suit you might begin to compare notes on ageism; as it seems to be a trend with Intel. In order to be actionable, I believe you must find a clear violation of employment laws, and this would be one. Look for trends in the age or years of service among those selected for layoff, or among those who fit the criteria used for layoff selection.

I have no personal investment in this issue, I just hate it when dishonorable actions hurt good people.

Unless you can prove you were discriminated against due to protected class, you have no case. Intel paid out very generous separation packages. It's not worth it in my opinion. Years of court and lawyers, time away from future jobs, huge fees to the lawyers and doubtful you would even get any compensation.

You don't have a case. But if you decide to go fwd and sue; you can define the lawyer fee as a % of the money you would potentially get from Intel; this way if your case foes no where then you don't have to pay the lawyer (in the other hand if you win the case the lawyer gets paid more)

@HfSHlOe-1ebb: please mind your language. Yes, INTEL is an at-will employer, can fire for any reason or no reason at all UNLESS the reason is one of the discriminatory reasons that you can prove.

Umm. Why do you think you have a case? Do you think you are special or something? Its pretty simple. The company wants to lay off workers to obtain a short term capital gain from current market offsets. You were chosen as one of those to be laid off. Deal with it and stop being a whinny bitch who believes losing a job unfair. You might as well start throwing a tantrum of the floor; I do not see the difference. Welcome to America.

Watch out for their bills. You were an at will employee terminated at will with a nice severance package. The lawyers want that money.

Class action is a joke. First of all, you all have no case. Second, even if you did (which you do not) you would end up with only a $100-$1000 settlement in which the terms would result in no wrongdoing on the corporations behalf. If you think a lawyer is going to legitimately take your case in regards to this layoff, you have it wrong.

Also Class Action works the best so if this person could also send emails on to others affected. Just not sure if he/she can rightful ask for the list. I am planning on contacting a lawyer tomorrow.

Be aware that just because a lawyer is willing to take on your case does not mean he won't just bleed you for retainer fees, etc. Do your due diligence on them.
