Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

One of my hardworking colleagues got ISP and left Intel yestersay

I really feel sad because eveyone who ever worked with him knows he is a diligent guy. Why he got IR this year is just because he argued with the manager on one issue in private but he did apologize later. I just want to remind managers not to ruin people just because one mistake that can be fixed easily. Intel is always saying we provide the best environment to grow people. I wish it's always true...

I know two of my dedicated, hand-working colleges from Oregon D1D process got laid off just because of SSL4 for 2015 focal and manager just said: "I am sorry; I didn't know it will be used as a criteria this year...." F*k this focal system..everyone of us will be victim someday ..

Totally agree and understand. It's sad. Many managers have wrong focus. Prefer a "talker" then "worker" because they are talkers. Cannot endure challenge. ppl make mistake. Some mistakes are harmless, some can break one person's all effort and heart.... then a company someday.

We have the same story.

A great guy that is working his assoff from 9-15, heading to the gym until 16 and off home just got fired.

What else can such "good" engineer should has done differently??

Fully understand, with the current focal system, a manager can easily abuse the system and make a employee IR or BE only for the benefit of himself, thus it is sad to see that these people just get to go without having a chance to define themselves, something is teribbly wrong.

It is the new intel way. Perhaps someone should write down the new intel values. The old ones are long gone.

"Challenge the Status Quo", I used to believe in that value until I realized that by upholding it meant 99% of the time you will lose your job :(

This is a great example of the focal affairs this year. The dedicated, experienced professionals getting let go for age, grade, and cost to Intel, not being defended by weak, timid management. Mgrs would rather subcumb to the system rather than their own moral conscience. Really sad that we have no leaders left.

Constructive confrontation is no longer valued at Intel. Diversity program is killing the competitiveness - not enough supply for the demand.

Unfortunately lots of people were shown the door for the wrong reason. Horrible managers along with being angry human beings try to force people to >= SSL4 due to bizarre reasons.
