Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

What does this mean? Quote from the ACT HUB (Q&A section) on Circuit.

"Backfills will be limited and external hiring must be approved by the CFO and the senior Vice President and director of HR."

Expeirence external hiring is not allowed. RCG is 200% OK. They are getting interviewed for partner teams in one of the most sought after "folsom" grps. Hiring RCG is double OK and hiring going on for 4 positions.

That's what I suspected but supposedly no one know the groups that are getting chop chopped. We won't know that until end of June. If someone suspects their project is low value and might get cut, then why not make a lateral move to another group (if you can land the job). If groups still have active requisitions open and can freely hire then they must have some level of confidence that their project is safe.

Don't you guys get it. They don't want people moving out of the groups who are going to be chop chop to other groups. Bastards. They did this last year right before the ISP. This company is so mean and ruthless

I hope all of you end up getting fired for breaking your corporation's code of conduct

Key word is external. Unless projects your team is working on aren't cancelled, internal backfills are probably fine. I suggest asking your manager instead of posting here.

I get that we need to control costs but oversight of this backfill program sounds like a nightmare. All we ever talk about on our projects is headcount, headcount, headcount - and how can we hook and crook to get more headcount. Hopefully HR shuts down the gravy train and remaining teams (including the ones I work on) will learn how to get more accomplished with fewer people. Not work harder mind you, but work smarter.

Intel is a living breathing organism. By time we have the attrition completed some good times will briefly roll and hiring binge starts all over again. Stacey Smith knows this first hand. SET.

Ffs they fired 12000 to save $1.4bn. They need to stop the bureaucrats hiring them all back. This company has no growth in revenue and rising overheads.

It's not self explanatory. They use the term "backfill" are they talking about backfills specific to VSP, ISP, ER and project closure? Or all the above? You're telling me they are freezing all headcount for all teams? We lost one person right before ISP and one after and we have one who already decided to take ER. So if I believe what HR says, then we get to backfill one position. Is this how you guys interpret this?

It means you cannot automatically backfill for folks who were laid off. Not just yet anyway. I am assuming this is being done so that we do not lose the good talent when it hits the redeployment pool once project cancellations get underway.

It's self explanatory. Limited internal backfills, many hoops to jump through and high level approvals required for external hires.

It means external freeze and internal transfer allowed

I saw that too. Do we believe it?
