SL4 and SL5 are given for various reasons other than performance.

One of them is- minority had to be given a promotion (couldnt be avoided as per HR rules), there was only so much stock and I had to give you less as your salary was a bit higher than others.

Even if it was a performance issue, there was no need to reveal it to the other 100K employees.

While it is the company's prerogative to lay people off, paying people off during the performance-layoff-week revealed the focal of the people who were laid off.

Intel caused extreme distress in many people, not because they were laid off, but it was revealed to the world that they were getting laid off for performance

For insistence that only iA x86 architecture would win mobile and for selling Marvel in '06.
