Every other person that I worked with at this company was a total freeloading douchebag - engineering, management, sales - you name it.
God what I would give to see if certain names appeared on list of 12,000. I'm sure there's plenty of good people that are getting axed here because of where their position was, but man this company had some horrible excuses for human beings and I hope they aren't left out.

Intel makes money out of PCs and Servers.
Within 5 years, the Intel PC business will be worthless.
In 10 years the Intel Server business will be useless.
Reasons:
1) Lost process advantage vs TSMC & Samsung.
2) ARM designs are equal or better than IA counterparts.
3) Intel development cycle is 4 years long. Other companies do a better job in 2 years.
4) Recent layoff cycle marks Intel as a company not worth working for.
5) Intel has poured billions on a failed Mobile adventure and will pour more billions on a future failure in IoT. This will steal much desired capital from Intel 2 cash cows and will allow competitors to enter and win.
6) Because Intel's internal culture in not a Meritocracy it's a Merdocracy: Around 30% of the Intel workforce are certified sh--heads.
7) Because no way a Murthy is cooler than a Kirk Skaugan.

Glad you left. Intel is no different than a lot of big companies, there are a few bad apples that like to complain that everything is someone else's fault except their own.
Those who are left at Intel are the hard and proud workers. We lead the industry in our space and wear that badge of honor.
We are fairly and highly paid and most of the people claiming they found jobs getting higher pay and bonuses are liars. Intel is known to be one of the best payers and their bonuses don't touch most other tech companies.
Good riddance and don't let the door hit you on teh way out. We dont miss you and don't remember you except as the butt of jokes.

Within the visible horizon of my org's hierarchy, no manager, even FLM has been ISP'ed. Some may have VSP, but no ISP!
root of the problem is 360 based Focal which is lightly done and is popularity contest favoring non confrontation with end result promoting politicians and those who use constructive dialogue (which is one of Intel values on values card) would eventually get you unpopular in 360 and fired.
By the way, number of Intel managers told me when I brought up Intel Values card to them that ~2/3rds of those values are guaranteed to get you fired within ~1-2 years.
Intel runs on corruption. The system at Intel promotes the best politicians and fires the hardest workers (unless they happen to be in the former category as well). With each round of layoffs instead of becoming focused and stronger Intel has become weaker because the % of powerpoint "leaders" has increased. This third annual vicious-surprise-firings will continue that trend.
You people are a special kind of idiot if you actually believe management has some sort of layer of protection during restructuring layoffs. Seriously, move on already.

Agree completely on this front. Some people might read these a categorize as "broad brush" or spiteful comments but it's truly amazing how many career freeloaders are at Intel who are experts at staying under the radar. It sucks to see how many people I know who are at Intel and have literally added zero value to the company's bottom line. They are instead experts at powerpoint and taking the same information QoQ and putting it together into a different presentation format. I forsee Intel losing a lot more than 12,000 in 2H16 and with the recent and finally needed announcement from BK on Intel's failure in mobile, I think they should be ready for a floodgate of attrition. Intel is no longer the company is used to be and has a very steep hill ahead.
Unfortunately, we are all just numbers in Intel and your "cost to Intel" is firmly emblazoned on your forehead. If you are not a manager and command a high cost based on past performance, you know that you will be in trouble. The Intel folks have never been personable, working day and night, seven days a week. You choose early whether you will remain a company person. If so, you adopt within yourself that this will be your lifestyle. Many ex-employees have written in this blog that life is so much better away from Intel. I am excited about exploring these new opportunities away from the arrogance and pathetic work/life balance. I could only wish luck to the good people that remain.
WrT, I totally agree. Good people were let go and like you said, the douche bags are still with their jobs.
