Check out Dubuque, Columbia MO, Grand Rapids, and Baton Rouge. Take a serious look at them, who is being hired, what work is really being done. These facilities are mostly PR operations funded by state grants to distract the public (and elected officials) from discovering the truth. Yes they are hiring people and some work is being done there. However the real truth is IBM is easily laying off 10x more people in surrounding communities than they are hiring. New York state alone is more like: Layoff's >5,000 New hires in Buffalo 500.

This is a royal tax move bro, no real jobs are being created, it's just a ton of money moving from the poor, to the state government, to IBM. What was that? A giant sucking sound created by Giny while siphoning all that peasant cash.

IBM just layer off 15000 us workers and another hit coming June 1. The job ads are fake. Let us know if you get one. We will be retired dead and gone before you get in to ibm

-nv1 is correct. IBM has pulled this sham in a number of other states - promising jobs just to get naive politicians to pony up big bucks, and then either never hiring the number of people they promised or else hiring them and then not long after, cutting them. If this is not the case, I ask why can't the work be done in RTP or some other established IBM facility, and why the hell can't it be done by existing, long-time loyal, PBC 2 and up IBMers rather than firing people?? I'm also sure a lot of those RA'd, who have families that depend on their income, would have happily relocated to Buffalo rather than lose their jobs.

As you know, IBM is NOT hiring 500 employees, and if IBM's past behavior is any indication of the future, then this will not last. The State of New York is kicking in $55 million worth of incentives, a sort of welfare check for IBM: and once the money runs out so will IBM.
