Few Manager might already got notification for justifying next 5 year for their group to be in FM.

I have seen the site dwindling down. With recent developments it is definitely on the table to closure.

@Hb8fqMC-1beo: Exactly. Also, BK personally and specifically excluded D2 for lab use despite there being literal wars occurring over lab space...only non-tool-related crap can be stored there...D2 could collectively absorb all the labs in SC9, SC11, SC12 & RNB combined...
Folsom site is full of employees wives. They come to office @ 10 am and leave at 2:30 to pick up kids. Not doing any productive work. Only Graphics team is productive but otherwise if they close folsom site nobody will notice.

Turnover in the Bay Area was extremely high so we established a sister org in Folsom. The Folsom site now makes up 80% of the org and is thriving.
They can layoff the entire FM employees and no one will notice. FM is like a mix pot of everything. I say kill it. The area will be much nicer without Intel.
likely denying the rumor to prevent mass exodus...they will keep everyone until THEY have no use for them, clearly by the way they've handled the layoffs they value KTBR more than giving adequate notice of impending doom...
Seems like closing FM is in the card. Couple of weeks ago there was email from HR regarding this denying the rumor. To me that is sign this is going to happen. I hope I am wrong and work here for few more years before I become old and replaced by RCG.

Yes some earlier information about layoffs was partially accurate in this forum. This post shows clearly lack of understanding of Intel product roadmap and why these products develop in other Intel campuses. The cancelation of shuttle having other reasons. Check Folsom local news to understand that few companies in specific technologies from bay area are opening sites in Folsom to tap into experience pool of engineers.
btw...SC is headquarters and was pioneer in Silicon Valley, will never shutdown, decrease in size maybe, but will never completely shutdown.
They will expand in San Diego.
IT can be outsourced or moved to OR, HR & Finance already began moving to OR 9 years ago...and the engineering can be divi'd between OR and AZ. Not far-fetched at all. And FM is smaller than OR, AZ and SC. Not sure why some posters here are calling FM a "major" site. Intel can profit off the campus easily by turning it into a premier business park...just sayin

Managers are routinely asked to justify the location (s) of their groups. Nothing new here. I had the pleasure to defend why my team should be in Israel instead of the US and succeeded. Give the FM site closure rumor a rest.
