Have heard rumor multiple times from independent sources that they are trying to sell nm site to samsung. Anyone know anything about this?

I was in Seoul last summer, and half the shop keepers there asked me if I had been to Roswell, NM.

They are obsessed with this alien sh*t.

I think Samsung is definitely trying to create a launch pad for it's alien tours....lots of money to be made.

The Liberals that live in Corrales will make sure that no one buys F11X it and it gets shutdown.

It's the largest (or was) the largest fab structure in the world. A big dog like Samsung makes sense. 11x is not being reinvested in, has seen employment go from 7000 to 1900 (before '16 layoffs), and will sunset just like F17, and others in the past. Just the nature of the biz...

No way Intel will ever upgrade NM with new tooling so long as they have a boat anchor site in Ocotillo. Maybe they use it to try to compete with TSMC foundry, but that won't last long.

It will not surprise me. Fab 11X is the next Fab. to close, it does not make any sense to retool it.
