LOL, those are his people, his tribe. They are all getting huge bonuses this year for firing people and replacing Americans with H1Bs.
A house of cards that is top heavy with lots of fat to cut. They can only protect their own for so long.

I think those 100 managers became VPs only in name, they were already senior directors of some sort (grade 11).
I am one of those VPs that just joined Intel and although you might not believe it, a lot of my peers who just joined have a broad background and experience in the best companies out there.
Unfortunately I can't not speak for those that were at Intel for years although from my initial experience interacting is they lack broad background and understanding on latest market trends and competition.
This is likely they have been insulated at Intel and are not aware of the bigger picture out there, but this is my 2 cents.

Management heavy, literally. All figureheads. Do nothing but threaten their underlings on their performance. Provide no new visions or contributions. Try have the market on eating donuts.
yeah, they get promoted so they can get the golden parachute. expect most of those guys will be booted out of the plane once altitude is reached.
