That would defeat the purpose of getting a younger more diverse work force. As most of the military guys are O.W.G's. (Old white guys)
I think there should be mandatory military service for all young men (and women?) as they do in Israel. It would make our military stronger. Israelis are proud to have served in their country's military. If you are against war and killing people, you can enlist as a conscientious objector and they will give you a job like cook or nurse.
what about ex-firemen, ex-policemen, etc? I work with a veteran and he's a real a--hole so I don't support your reasoning

Most people in this country believe we would be free, whether our military went anywhere to fight or not. They see the military as a vocation for those who have no other choice in life. I'm not one of them, but military people get laid off just like anyone else- even the military has layoffs. Thankfully there are programs in place to give you a leg up in getting a new job.
